Naturopath Domenic Pisanelli outlines the six things you need to be concerned about as they relate to Diet, Water, and Supplements.

1. Diet, the Slow Killer
Every cell, organ, and system in our bodies is produced from the food we eat. Sorry, but you can’t make a healthy body from a diet predominantly comprised of potato chips and diet soda. When it comes to diet, there are five key areas: healthy and unhealthy fats, refined and complex carbohydrates, good and bad sources of protein, poor quality food, and Frankenfoods (genetic engineering, irradiation, and microwaves).

2. Dying of Thirst
Clean water for drinking, bathing, and growing food is one of the most precious commodities on the planet. Unknowingly, virtually everyone in the world now drinks tap water that is polluted by pharmaceutical residues, and other contaminants—not to mention adulterated with known carcinogens such as chlorine and fluoride. Why is clean water so important? Quite simply, it’s essential for life. And the sad fact is that most people just don’t get enough. You can take steps both to optimize the quality of the water you drink and bathe in and to maximize its bioavailability in your body.

3. Vitamins, Minerals, and Phytochemicals
You often hear doctors say that there’s no need to supplement if you eat a balanced diet. Unfortunately, the food we eat today is not as nutritious as the food available even fifty years ago. We have to compensate for the loss of “value” in our food. Supplementation of some kind is mandatory. I’ll discuss how to differentiate between good and bad supplements and how to determine which supplements you should take when you book consultation with me.

4. Free Radicals and Antioxidants
Scientists now know that free radicals play a major role in the aging process as well as in the onset of cancer, heart disease, stroke, arthritis, possibly allergies, and a host of other ailments. But which antioxidants work best for you and how much should you take?

5. Enzymes = Life
Modern man is the only animal that eats a diet almost entirely devoid of live enzymes. As a result, virtually every Australian  has an enlarged pancreas by the time he or she is forty and a significantly diminished life expectancy. Oral enzymes can help eliminate this problem.

6. Miracle Herbs
Herbs are an important part of any healthy lifestyle. While herbs are currently a hot topic in the health world, they are also under siege by business and government entities interested in controlling their use. But they’re only useful if you know how to identify the best herbal products and how to guarantee optimal results.”
