Does this sound familiar?
You're not looking for a quick supplement — you're looking for someone who will actually investigate what's driving your symptoms.
Energy & fatigue
Waking exhausted, afternoon crashes, brain fog, or a tiredness that no amount of sleep fixes. You've had bloods done — everything came back normal.
Gut & digestion
Bloating, reflux, IBS, food reactions, or constipation that keeps returning. You've been told to manage it — not fix it.
Hormones & weight
Mood swings, weight that won't shift, irregular cycles, perimenopause symptoms, or a hormonal picture your GP says is "within range."
Chronic & autoimmune
Skin conditions, joint inflammation, autoimmune flares, or chronic fatigue with no clear driver identified despite years of investigation.
These aren't vague or untreatable. In most cases there is a root cause — and it can be found.
That's the work of functional naturopathic medicine.
Vital Health and Natural Medicine is a functional medicine and naturopathic clinic based in Kealba, servicing Melbourne's western and inner north suburbs in person — and patients across Victoria and Australia via telehealth. Principal naturopath Domenic Pisanelli has 25+ years of clinical experience in root-cause, functional medicine.

Learn more →How we investigate
Standard blood tests assess disease markers — they're not designed to identify the early functional dysregulation that drives chronic symptoms. We use advanced laboratory testing to find what standard pathology misses.
GI MAP — Complete Microbiome Mapping
PCR-based stool analysis identifying bacterial overgrowth, pathogens, parasites, zonulin (leaky gut marker), and digestive enzyme function. NATA accredited, lab #20770.
About GI MAP testing →AdrenoCortex Salivary Panel
Diurnal cortisol and DHEA mapping across four time points. Identifies adrenal fatigue, HPA axis dysregulation, and stress hormone patterns driving fatigue and hormonal imbalance.
About hormone testing →Organic Acids Test (OAT)
Urine-based metabolic profiling covering mitochondrial function, neurotransmitter metabolism, yeast and bacterial overgrowth, B-vitamin status, and detoxification capacity.
About OAT testing →Hormone Testing & CEDS
Salivary and urinary hormone panels for sex hormones, thyroid function, and adrenal markers. Computerised Electrodermal Screening (CEDS) for energetic assessment of organ systems.
About CEDS testing →At-home test kits posted to you directly. All testing interpreted in clinical context — not as isolated numbers.
Our clinical framework
Most practitioners treat symptoms in isolation. The ROOT Method™ is a systematic framework that identifies the underlying physiological drivers — then addresses them in a specific clinical sequence to produce lasting results rather than temporary relief.
R
Root cause identification
Advanced functional testing to identify the physiological mechanisms driving your symptoms
O
Optimise terrain
Remove inflammatory triggers, repair gut integrity, and restore the internal environment for healing
O
Overcome dysfunction
Targeted herbal, nutritional, and lifestyle protocols addressing each identified driver in clinical sequence
T
Treat & maintain
Ongoing monitoring, protocol adjustment, and long-term strategies to maintain the clinical improvements achieved

Patient results
Most had seen multiple practitioners before finding root-cause answers here.
"I had been unwell for years with gut issues and fatigue. Domenic was the first practitioner who actually investigated the root cause rather than treating symptoms. Within three months I felt like a different person."
Damla O. — Melbourne patient
"After years of hormone issues and being told everything was normal, Domenic's functional testing finally showed what was actually going on. The treatment plan was clear, logical, and it worked."
Antonella F. — Melbourne patient
"I drove from the other side of Melbourne because of the recommendations I'd heard. Completely worth it. Domenic is thorough, direct, and actually gets results. I've referred three friends since."

How far is the clinic from me?
Our clinic is at 195A Sunshine Ave, Kealba VIC 3021. Approximately 10 min from Caroline Springs and Keilor East, 15 min from Essendon and Moonee Ponds, 20–25 min from Melbourne CBD. Free on-site parking. Telehealth available nationally.
Do I need a referral?
No referral required. You can book directly via the free discovery call link on this page.
What does a consultation cost?
Initial consultation $197 (75–90 min). Follow-up consultations $130. The free discovery call (20 min) carries no obligation. Private health rebates for naturopathy were removed in 2019 — we do not offer health fund or Medicare billing.
Is telehealth as effective as in-person?
For most conditions, yes. All functional testing can be done via at-home kits. The only exception is CEDS testing, which requires an in-person visit.
How long does treatment take?
Most patients notice meaningful improvement within 4–8 weeks. Complex chronic conditions typically require 3–6 months for substantial results. We set clear expectations at the outset.
What's the difference between naturopathy and functional medicine?
Naturopathy is the broader clinical discipline. Functional medicine is a methodology within that framework prioritising advanced laboratory investigation and root-cause reasoning. We practice both — combined.
Functional naturopathic medicine isn't right for everyone. Here's a direct assessment.
You're a good fit if:
✓ You have a chronic condition that hasn't responded to standard treatment
✓ You want to understand the root cause — not just manage symptoms
✓ You're willing to change diet and lifestyle as part of treatment
✓ You're prepared to invest time — most protocols run 3–6 months
✓ You're open to advanced functional testing beyond a standard GP panel
Not the right fit if:
✗ You're looking for a quick fix or a single supplement solution
✗ You're in acute medical crisis — emergency care comes first
✗ You're unwilling to make any dietary or lifestyle changes
✗ You need bulk-billing or Medicare-covered consultations
