Skeptical About Natural Treatment for Gut Problems? Does it sound Too Good To Be True?

Regardless of how many Irritable Bowel, Inflammatory Bowel sufferers turn towards natural functional treatment approach, some still remain skeptical as to whether these treatment methods really work.

It is of course completely normal to be skeptical and understandable seeing as most people are unaware that many gut conditions can in fact be treated naturally, especially when they are told otherwise by their gastroenterologist or general medical practitioner.

Sadly many Gut sufferers will think that because the medication failed and surgery failed that they are doomed to a life of misery taking anti- inflammatories, immune suppressants, suffering with weight gain and food sensitivities.

If there was a natural approach that was effective, for most cases of Irritable Bowel Syndrome and, including autoimmune Gut disorders such a Crohns Disease, Ulcerative Colitis , then why, you might wonder, wouldn’t the gastroenterologists and other medical providers recommend such an approach?

This is a three part answer; there are three main reasons for this:

Reason #1: They are trained to recommend conventional medical treatment methods and Nothing else.

This might sound unbelievable, but it’s true. In medical school they don’t focus on Nutrition/Lifestyle changes/ natural medicine, holistic treatment methods, or functional Medicine, instead they use conventional methods Cut it out, Burn it, Remove it, and Medicate the symptoms away.

You would think that doctors would get tired of having patients back in their office every 6 months complaining of all the same symptoms that the patient was initially seeking help for. That doesn’t seem to be the case though.

There is no question or doubt that drugs, surgery and other treatment procedures have their place, however,Natural Gut treatments that encompasses the entire picture is incredibly safe, its effective and doesn’t come with a laundry list of side effects.

Doesn’t it make sense to ask why you have bloating, or constipation, or gut pain or nausea everytime you eat than to just treat the symptoms.

A natural approach to Gut problems requires a practitioner  to look at the whole picture. Things like Neurological function for (brain fog, Memory, Anxiety) Gut Function and food sensitivities for the (Cramping, belching, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, etc), Adrenal glands for (blood sugar issues, fatigue, sleeping problems etc) Male and Female Hormone imbalances, Immune Function,

This is not the case for Gut sufferers. For every symptom you have or express concern, Traditional doctors simply pull out the prescription pad. Many people are being lied to, that could be helped by following a natural gut treatment protocol, but are being told by their medical/gastroenterologist doctor that they need to take antidepressants, Laxatives, steroids, synthetic hormones, intestinal surgery or take immune suppressant drugs for the rest of their lives. WITH NO HOPE OF EVERY GETTING WELL.

Reason #2: Many medical doctors are close minded and Don’t want to know about Natural Health.

NO! that couldn’t be true.

Several years ago, a man came to my office who had suffered with fungal infections for several years. Every couple of months he would be back into the doctors office taking a new medication. I told him about treatments with tea tree oil, and oil of oregano and how these could help these infections. He Tried it and never had an infection again!

When the same man went back to the doctor to tell him what worked and why the doctor never suggested this. The doctor’s response was I’m a medical doctor, I prescribe medications!

Many medical doctors go on to practice holistic medicine, so this of course doesn’t apply to all of the medical doctors out there. But I am still shocked at how many medical doctors will tell patients that natural treatments don’t work (If they didn’t work I would not have testimonials of how THE VITAL HEALTH GUT RESET program has restored the lives of individuals who have come to our office.

Unfortunately, there are many medical doctors who are not open minded when it come to holistic healthcare. I can’t pinpoint exactly why this is the case, but the same old argument that it is not “scientific enough”…..It’s unproven, etc., etc…….seems to generally come up!

I respect someone who does their research about holistic healthcare and decides that it’s not for them. But many medical doctors (and people in general) automatically rule out natural Gut treatments without doing the research. Don’t do this.

Just remember, once Your Gut is Too Inflammed or  sections are Removed there is NO reversing that process. It’s Gone For Good!

I think it works both ways, I know some holistic doctors who aren’t receptive to any conventional medical treatment methods. As I mentioned previously, there is a time and place for both conventional medical treatment methods and natural treatment methods and sometimes you need the type of care where they intersect. It’s just unfortunate that most medical doctors and holistic practitioners won’t work together and keep an open mind.

Reason #3: The Financial Incentives.

This is always a sensitive subject and can be hard to stomach for some, but the fact remains that many, if not most, doctors will recommend conventional medical treatment methods because they are much more profitable than most natural methods. Have a look at these figures……

Average cost per procedure ($)

Colorectal Surgery

Hernia Repair

Gallbladder Surgery

Sometimes a hernia repair is unavoidable and removal of an appendix is critical especially if it ruptures, but a gallbladder removal is too common and I would argue, at times un- necessary, and generally colorectal surgery can be avoided if more measures other than drug therapies were solely relied on. I’m not saying these should be avoided because of the cost, but they should be the last resort after all treatments have been explored, both conventional and natural.
